The Phases of the HCG Diet

In a previous blog, we discussed the three phases of the HCG Diet. For a brief overview, phase one takes about two to three days wherein you consume a very high level of calories. Phase two is when you reduce your calorie intake to about 500 calories per day. Phase three is a stabilization phase where you will increase your caloric intake to about 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day. Because the bulk of the HCG Diet takes place during phase two, we will be discussing the food you can consume during phase two of the diet.

Food Consumption During Phase Two of the HCG Diet

The HCG Diet couples the use of the HCG hormone and a reduced calorie intake in order to boost weight loss. Since dieters can only consume around 500 calories per day during phase two, it is important to consume foods that are nutrient-dense and that will help to satisfy you. Foods that are acceptable to consume during the diet are as follows: Protein, vegetables, and fruit.

  • Lobster
  • Shrimp
  • Chicken
  • Extra lean beef: 96 percent


  • Lettuce of any kind: Spinach, cabbage, iceberg, etc.
  • Onions of any kind
  • Tomatoes of any kind
  • Fennel
  • Cucumbers
  • Radishes
  • Celery
  • Asparagus


  • Apples
  • Blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries
  • Lemons

Condiments And Extras

  • Melba toast
  • Sugarless gum
  • Stevia and other natural sweeteners
  • Braggs Liquid Amino
  • Mustard
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Natural herbs: Salt, pepper, garlic, etc.


  • Herbal tea
  • Coffee
  • Water


Breakfast should be your smallest meal of the day, typically consisting of coffee or tea and melba toast. Lunch and dinner should be your larger meals. Both lunch and dinner should include a lean protein and vegetables. Fruit can be saved for snacks or added flavor to salads or meat dishes. The HCG Diet focuses on using healthy foods to supplement your HCG injections in order for your body to get the nutrients it needs, even on a reduced calorie intake.
