Which Injectables Work Best for Anti-Aging?

3 Treatments That Do Wonders for Anti-Aging

As many of us know, signs of aging are inevitable. No matter how well we take care of our skin or maintain healthy lifestyles; wrinkles will begin to appear. Aging leads to the loss of subcutaneous peripheral fat creating less insulation and padding underneath the skin, which means there is less volume. This, coupled with the tendency for the skin to become thinner and drier, makes aging skin prone to wrinkles.

While we can’t prevent signs of anti-aging and wrinkles from appearing there is a way, we can temporarily alter them and achieve a naturally youthful look.

Botox is injected into the muscle of the face and helps weaken it by preventing the muscle from contracting, this allows the wrinkles to soften and disappear. Injections can be done in a matter of minutes, with no anesthesia! Plus, it only takes about a week or two to see results. Generally, Botox lasts 3-6 months before wrinkles become visible again and the injection will need to be reapplied.

Botox is a great option for anyone looking to get rid of:

  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead lines

Restylane is used for: moderate to severe wrinkles such as laugh lines and areas around the mouth and nose. It is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is injected beneath the skin and adds some support and volume back into the face. This is achieved due to the properties of the acid that help it attract water and allows it to maintain its volume and in turn the volume and suppleness of your face. Restylane injections can take anywhere from a couple of minutes to half an hour, the time frame is dependent on the severity of the wrinkles or folds and local anesthesia may be used. Results can be seen in one week and can last anywhere from 4.5-9 months.

Radiesse is ideal for any areas that have suffered a loss of fat and volume and, much like Restylane, for wrinkles and folds found in areas around the mouth and nose. Radiesse is a long-term solution in filling wrinkles and folds because it helps boost the collagen production in the skin, this is because Radiesse is made up of calcium hydroxyapatite. CaHA creates a structure that is similar to connective tissue and over time it will absorb back into your body.

Radiesse injections take only 15 minutes and while results can be seen instant it will take up to a week to see full results. While it is a long-term treatment that can last up to 2 years it will need to be repeated whenever needed.
