How Laser Vein Removal Works
These procedures are relatively quick, often taking less than an hour. Laser vein removal uses a focused wavelength of light to precisely target the vein without impacting nearby tissue. The heat from the laser disrupts the vein, breaking it down until it disappears over the course of the next several weeks. This is most frequently performed with a handheld device while the patient is under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Following the procedure, skin may have a reddish appearance in the treatment area. This is normal and will generally subside within two days.
